We would like to start this months eNewsletter by saying -Thank You- to our amazing members.  In June we helped more members finance more loans than any one month in our credit union history.  We appreciate your trust and confidence in us to help achieve your financial goals.

If you are searching for a vehicle, home or credit card loan, we invite you to come see how we can help you.  We offer some of the lowest rates in San Antonio with the flexibility to customize loan programs for your individual needs.   We look forward to seeing you soon!
Car Buying Tips from CPS IBEW FCU

If you are searching for a new or used car, you likely already have your guard up. Once you narrow down the dizzying selection of vehicles, the tigers pounce -sometimes even the claws come out- when price negotiations and financing options come in to play. If you’re a CPS IBEW FCU member, however, you have a secret ally in your corner. Click here for 4 ways we can help you get the most for your money.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Lineman Rodeo

CPS Energy hosted the American Public Power Association Lineworkers Rodeo May 10 at CPS Energy W.B. Tuttle Employee and Retiree Park. Five CPS Journeyman teams + seven CPS Apprentice teams competed against utility companies across the Nation where participants were judged on safety first, then speed. Events included knot tying, written tests, and hurt man rescue.

In addition to the competition, friends, family, and San Antonio residents enjoyed food trucks, seeing the newest technology in the field of lineman work, and games at the kids' center where children were invited to try on real lineman gear.

CPS IBEW FCU hosted the Volunteer Hospitality tent where we mingled with event-goers at this all-day event.

CPS IBEW FCU Annual Meeting

Approximately 250 members and family attended this year Annual Meeting May 8. Attendees enjoyed giveaways including cash prize drawings.

The event was held at Holy Name Catholic Church Activity Center and catered by Bill Miller BBQ.
15th Annual Kids Fish Day

CPS IBEW FCU employees were pleased to once again join more than 100 CPS Energy employees at the Annual CPS Kids Fish Event.  Each year CPS Energy teams up with C.A.S.T (Catch a Special Thrill) and Texas Parks and Wildlife.  Before the event, Texas Parks and Wildlife nets and stocks a small cove near the Calaveras Lake Pier with 500 12 inch catfish and allows the children to participate in a -catch and release- event.

This year they hosted children from Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA).

CAST provided each child with a fishing pole, bait, tackle box, and t-shirt.  Everyone enjoyed a fabulous day of fishing, food, music, games and boat rides!

Staff Spotlight

Meet Brandi Aldana, MSR/Teller

How long have you worked for the Credit Union?
Four months

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Helping members, whether it is a simple transaction or resolving an issue. The ability to solve any members problem is something I really enjoy.

What do you like most about working for the Credit Union? The environment is very friendly. I enjoy seeing the members and getting to know each one individually. And of course my coworkers make it fun! I know, too, if I need anything someone is here to assist.

Tell us about a time you WOWed a member (or had a great experience helping a member)?
A member came in with a debit card issue, and I could tell she was having a hard day. So I talked to her a bit and with a smile on my face let her know I cared about her situation and wanted to help. After finding a solution she was super happy and told me my smile changed her mood. It really made my day knowing that such a simple gesture meant so much.

Have you always lived in San Antonio?
I was born and raised in San Antonio.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I really enjoy my time with my 5-year-old daughter, Akira.  Wherever she wants to go, we go!  She is my best friend, and I couldn't imagine life without her.

What is your favorite spot in San Antonio outside the office?
The Yanaguana Garden at Hemisfair Park. Akira loves the splash pad!
